The push-pull dynamic is basically just randomly rewarding good behaviour in sporadic intervals. Dopamine is released when a human gets randomly rewarded and this reinforces the behaviour. If you continuously reward a behaviour in a predictable manner, dopamine isn't released. This is why it works to make women addicted to you when you do the random reward and they lose all interest when you're predictable.
