I'm nearly 40 and have been doing SL for 5 weeks and I'm still making nice gains.
I find that supplementing with a high quality protein powder helps a lot at my age. If I don't have it then I recover less and struggle more for the next workout.
Improving drastically with weights.
I've been doing the Strong lift 5x5 beginner program for about 5 weeks after finding TRP.
I'm finding that the boost in testosterone is helping me give less fucks and improves my confidence.
It helps me in all areas of life.
This week I squatted 73 kg. Tomorrow I do 76kg. I never thought I would be able to do this in my whole life. I haven't lifted weights for about 20 years. My Day job is a software developer.

I experimented with running, jogging and HIIT along with weights.
At first I was just doing steady state and kept building up to an hour solid. Then I kept pushing up the speed 8KM/HR, 9KM/HR until I nearly got to 10KM/HR for a whole hour. I found that it fucked me for days afterwards for no real advantage.
Then I tried HIIT with spurts between 10 and 17KM/HR. This also fucked my joints even though the intervals were short.
I now just stick to slow steady state because I simply enjoy it and it doesn't take a toll on my joints. I do 7KM/HR for an hour twice a week and add in 15-20 minutes at that speed after some weight sessions. Anything faster than about 8KM/HR fucks my joints (I'm almost 40). This rules out HIIT for me.

Weights and diet is still king for body composition but cardio still had a place to work the energy systems and for stress relief etc.
